When the claim stalls
The Comptroller asked for more documents. What now?
I start by asking what the examiner still needs to prove: identity, connection to the reported owner, authority to claim, or the link to that specific property.
Next tip: claim statusCompare the request with your submission
Make a short log of each document, its upload or mailing date, and which requirement it addresses. If you already submitted what was requested, mention the earlier submission and the claim ID when responding.
Check whether the image can actually be read
Can a reviewer zoom in and read every detail needed to match the record? I have seen a clear cellphone photo pass after a scanner image of an ID was rejected. Scanning some death certificates can reveal a VOID watermark; a complete, high-resolution photo may avoid that problem.
Find the missing bridge
A marriage certificate might connect a former name to a current ID or to probate papers. An account statement or holder letter might connect you to property reported years ago. Match the document to the missing link instead of sending another pile of unrelated papers.
Keep everything under the claim ID
Save upload confirmations. If you mail additional documents without another copy of the claim form, put the claim ID on a cover sheet so the papers can be matched to the file.
I have also resubmitted documents that appeared to have been overlooked. These are examples from my casework, not a promise that resubmission will resolve every claim. If the request is still unclear after a precise response, ask the office what specific information the copy fails to show.
