Business claim scenarios
Texas unclaimed property claims for businesses
Business property may be reported under a former name, or the company may have closed years before the funds were found. I trace the entity and ownership, prepare the claim and handle document requests.
The business is active
An authorized representative can generally pursue the claim for the business. The file still needs to connect the reported entity to the current company and show the representative’s authority.
The business has closed
The people or entities entitled to its remaining property may need to claim. A former owner’s name on one record does not, by itself, establish that person’s share.
The company changed its name
Filing history can connect the name on a property listing with the current entity. I trace that history so the claim shows the relationship clearly.
An owner or payee has died
A business claim may lead to an individual claim, an estate claim, or another business. Each link in the payout trail needs supporting records.
Three Business Case Studies
EXAMPLE 01
Oak Bend Services LLC and Maya Collins
Active business and authorized representative
The property was reported to Oak Bend Services LLC, which was still operating. Maya was authorized to act for the company. I connected the reported business to its current records, documented Maya’s authority and prepared the claim in the company’s name.
EXAMPLE 02
Lone River Energy LLC and Lone River Resources LLC
Business name change
The property appeared under Lone River Energy LLC, but the company had changed its name to Lone River Resources LLC. I traced the change through its state filings and matched the former and current names before presenting the claim.
EXAMPLE 03
Cedar Ridge Partners LLC and its four partners
Closed business with a deceased partner
Cedar Ridge had closed, and its final tax return identified four payees, one of whom had since died. I mapped their respective shares, gathered identification from the surviving partners and followed the deceased partner’s share through the estate records.
The first claim required proof of authority, the second required a documented name history, and the third followed ownership from a closed business into an estate. I traced each link before building the claim file.
